VéloGîtes : A Cycling Holiday in the Vienne

Looking to live your Tour de France cycling dreams while on your vacation? Cycling enthusiast Graham, and his family moved from Guernsey to the village of Availles-Limouzine in 2019 to run a large gîte complex. Specialising in family holidays, with guided cycling as an optional extra, a stay at VéloGîtes is a unique and fun way to see the Vienne region.

The Gîte Building

The 200-year-old barn has been converted into 6 individual apartments, holding from 5-10 people each. You can also rent out the entire complex, which holds 40 people in total. With views out over the Vienne River valley, VéloGîtes has some of the most incredible vistas in the region.

The Rooms & Facilities

The rooms are a variety of layouts, from doubles with ensuite, to twin and triple single bed rooms. Each gîte has its own kitchen, dining and lounge area, as well as a private outdoor patio space. Tastefully decorated with 6 distinct themes, the gîtes are connected by a central communal area and TV room.

The Grounds & Animals

Set on the hill opposite the town of Availles-Limouzine, the VéloGîtes grounds are packed with activities and facilities. A beautiful swimming pool, trampolines, kids games, and a pétanque court. Not to mention a hobby farm with sheep, goats and chickens.

With your own patio area, picnic table, parasol and loungers; you have the advantage of extensive grounds, but private space too.

Guided Cycling

Graham is happy to show you his favourite cycling routes, from pro circuits that will challenge the best riders, to easy family cycles through the sunflower fields. Graham has plotted many routes from VéloGîtes (search strava for Graham Glass) out into the Vienne and Charente countryside, and he can give you all the advice you might need to enjoy an active cycling holiday in the Vienne.

Relaxing & Attractions

If cycling isn’t your thing, then don’t worry, there are plenty of relaxing alternatives. From lounging by the pool to leisurely walks along the many hiking trails in the area.

You’ve also got plenty of attractions and activities in the surrounding area: Futuroscope, France’s most popular science theme park; Vallée des Singes, a primate park; and not to mention the vineyards and cognac distilleries a stones throw from VéloGîtes.
